ABOUT US

our mission:

To create opportunities for underrepresented artists in The South.

On every Brackish film, women make up at least half of the crew and people of color fill above the line leadership positions.

We're proud to support and authentically represent Southern communities. We believe a rising tide lifts all boats: we prioritize collaboration with local artists, musicians, and businesses.

Glory in the mud.

We tell unflinching but empathetic stories, confronting harsh truths and celebrating humanity.

PEOPLE

Hope Leigh

HOPE LEIGH
Founder

Hope grew up onstage alongside local artists in Mobile, AL. She earned her B.A. in Creative Writing & Theatre Performance from Tulane University's Honors College, where her first play, Monopolis, won Tulane's Janice Torre Perky Award for Original Writing. She wrote, produced, directed, and played a lead onstage role in its premiere for her honors thesis. Her goal was for each character in the 9-person cast, aged 14-74, to have a moment in which the play was about them. Hope’s mission remains creating and supporting collaborative projects.

Hope's first screenplay, Blood Rust, was a 2017 Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition quarter-finalist. Her first film writer/director efforts, Heard, a music video collaboration with Kaye the Beast, and My Lethal Weapon, a short comedy/thriller in which she also performed, were official selections at festivals including (Academy Award®-qualifying) Atlanta Film Festival and Sidewalk Film Festival (2018), among others. Hope's team-oriented attitude and tenacity draw her toward "impossible" challenges.

Hope is a proud SAG-AFTRA member. To learn more about her onscreen work, visit her website.
